North Down Counselling is a private counselling practice covering the Belfast and North Down Areas, managed by Julie Dodds, a BACP accredited counsellor with 13 years experience. Some issues I work with include : Anxiety, Abuse, Anger, Depression, Low Self Worth/esteem, Trauma, Relationship Issues, Childhood Sexual Abuse, OCD, Bullying, Domestic Violence, Family & Stepfamily Relationships, Work related issues, Self Harm, Disruptive Behaviour including ADHD, Eating Disorders, Phobias, Bereavement and Marriage Counselling. I am a Qualified Practitioner in EMDR (Eye Movement Densitisation Reprocessing), a specialised and often fast-working treatment for the relief of traumatic symptoms such as those experienced after being involved in physical/sexual assaults, witnessing horrific events or any abuse however big or small that creates an inner imbalance effecting self esteem issues. It also works very well with childhood trauma. People come into counselling with a wide range of personal, emotional and relationship difficulties. Counselling can be enormously helpful, it just requires you to take that crucial first step and share your problem with someone who will understand and accept whatever is troubling you. The aim is not to solve one particular problem but to assist you to grow, so that you can cope with the present problem and with later problems that may occur in your life. I offer both long term or short term therapy according to the presenting issues of my clients. My fee is £40 per 50 minute session. My approach is integrative using the person-centred model as a foundation, drawing upon the core conditions to produce a confidential, honest, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. I integrate this with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy ( CBT ), Psychodynamic work, Solution Focused Counselling & Family Counselling when required. However, counselling, no matter what approach is used, centres on building a trusting relationship to enable you to share, explore and start to change some of the issues that have brought you to counselling. My work is conducted according to the Ethical Framework for Good Practice within the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) with whom I am a registered accredited counsellor. I am also a member of their division for Counselling Children & Young People (CCYP).
You may contact me initially by telephone or email to discuss and ask any questions you might have regarding the type of therapy, what the process involves or any other concern. Tel. 02891 464771/ Mob.07768585274 northdowncounselling@gmail.com
